How Do I Become a Referee?

Information on becoming a referee can be found on the State Referee Site.

How Many Meetings Do I Have To Attend

You must attend 5 hours of training per year.  Some meetings provide 1 hour and some provide 2 hours of training.

Where Do I Buy A Uniform?

You can purchase uniforms from many locations.  The official USSF provider of uniforms is Official Sports.  Their website is www.officialsports.com.  Uniforms can also be purchased at any local soccer shop, or various other stores on line.

How Do I Get Assigned To Games?

It is each referee’s responsibility as an independent contractor to contact assignors for various leagues to receive games.  These people can be reached through the leagues websites.  The following assignors have asked us to put their information here for you:

I Issued A Red Card.  Now What?

You are responsible for properly filling out the necessary paperwork with in 48 hours.  Each league has its own procedures for dealing with ejections, however referees need to do the following:

1.                  Keep the player pass and mail it to the league with the game sheet.

2.                  Properly fill out the league’s game report.

3.                  Include a supplemental form that concretely explains the details that lead to
the ejection.  The official USSF form can be found by clicking this link.

4.                  If there was referee assault, it needs to be reported to the State Referee
Administrator.  It would also be good to notify the president of ASRA to advise
        and assist you as well.
